Wooden box, light box with Duratrans, vinyl adhesive, light and programmer.
Intervention in a show-window. 230 x 80 x 200 cm.

The placement of this piece in a show-window at an intersection in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, and its coexistence with businesses dedicated to youth-culture consumerism and a high concentration of immigrant population, was the motivating factor behind the intervention.

A light box appropriated from a newspaper article (an x-ray taken using sophisticated security cameras of a semi-truck transporting, among its other cargo, illegal immigrants) is placed upon a packing crate like that which is typically used to transport merchandise. In front, at the height of the box and applied to the window-glass, is a text consisting of a refrain from a well known eighties spanish pop song: viaje con nosotros (travel with us). This slogan acts as an ironic imprecation to attract the attention of the passing pedestrian by acting on their memory.

As darkness falls, the Duratrans with the image of the truck gains in protagonism. At night, when the outside is completely dark and the shop closes its roller blind, a light bulb located in the upper part of the show-window is activated, emitting to the world outside a message in Morse code – S.O.S. (Save Our Souls).
